The mission of the Eastern Pennsylvania - Delaware Geriatric Education Center (EPaD GEC) is to address interprofessional geriatric education needs in three regions: Southeastern Pennsylvania, Northeastern Pennsylvania, and the State of Delaware. The EPaD GEC consortium (Thomas Jefferson University (TJU), Marywood University (MU), The Commonwealth Medical College (TCMC), the University of Delaware (UD) and Christiana Care Health System (CCHS)) is committed to improving the health and quality of life of older adults and their caregivers by translating new evidence and innovative practice models, developed within the EPaD GEC consortium, into practical, effective curricula and programs. This will lead to improved geriatric expertise among health professionals and faculty and thus result in measurable improvements for older persons throughout these three regions.
EPaD GEC is particularly dedicated to improving the health care of underserved rural and African American elders, by educating current and future health professionals to provide culturally sound care for these special populations, which empowers older persons to manage their own chronic conditions and take an active role in their health and well-being.
All EPaD GEC projects are supported by Grant Number: UB4HP19061 from the Health and Human Services.
